How did IN-C.E.R.T. get started?
In 2005, after hurricanes Katrina and Rita occurred in the southern region of the United States, research and development began in securing and providing emergency services in communities on a local level. The IN-C.E.R.T. program is modeled after several experienced professional and volunteer emergency response teams throughout North America. The program has been developed following many of the same philosophies as the Police, Fire, EMS, Public Health, EMO, Social Services, and the United States Military. IN-C.E.R.T. has the ability to provide both generalized and specialized services.

In the case of specialized services IN-C.E.R.T. has the ability to provide the following; urban search and rescue operations, abducted child search operations, Residential Assistance Service Team (R.A.S.T.), body and body parts recovery operations, fast water search operations, traffic control assistance, Medical Reserve Corps (M.R.C.) as well as providing services to evacuation centers and the Emergency Medical Teams (E.M.T.).

Does IN-C.E.R.T. receive government funding?
No, IN-C.E.R.T does not receive government funding. However, IN-C.E.R.T. is in need of funds to help the program improve its service delivery. IN-C.E.R.T. has now developed an innovative sponsorship program that allows individuals and corporations to receive benefits and advertising that a sponsorship program offers verses a regular donation.
